NEW ORLEANS – The #14/#8 Louisiana Christian University women's tennis team saw its run in the 2026 Red River Athletic Conference Championship Tournament come to an end in the semifinal round, falling 4-0 to the hosting #6/#2 Xavier Gold Nuggets Friday afternoon at the XULA Tennis Center.
 
The doubles point was tightly contested, but after #6/#2 Xavier (17-7) took the number two match-up 6-3, #14/#8 Louisiana Christian (12-6) couldn't find that one rally needed to take the point, dropping both the number one and number three matches by identical 7-5 scores, giving the Gold Nuggets the point for doubles.
 
After taking down the Gold Nuggets a week ago, the same fortune would not play to the Wildcats this time around as LCU dropped the points in singles on court two, court three, and court six in straight sets to bring the match to its end.
 
Now the Wildcats wait to see if they've done enough to earn an at-large spot in the NAIA Women's Tennis Championship Tournament, which will be held May 12-16 in Mobile, Ala. at the Mobile Tennis Center.
