PINEVILLE, La. – The #18/#15 Louisiana Christian University women's tennis team hosted NCAA Division 1 side Southeastern Louisiana, dropping a 6-1 result to the Lions Saturday afternoon at the Richard L. Crowell Tennis Complex.
#18/#15 Louisiana Christian (0-2) dropped all three doubles matches to drop the doubles points.
Elizaveta Mikhailova and
Farren Allysia Sandy had the best showing in doubles, getting three points off their counterparts from Southeastern (2-0) in the top pairs match-up in a 6-3 defeat. Raquel Rodrigues Coelho and
Valeria Callejo on court two and
Akari Uchiyama and
Ana Sofia Ferrer Martinez on court three both dropped their matches by a 6-2 score.
LCU's lone point of the day came in the number two pairing as Mikhailova was able to win her match-up 3-6, 7(7)-6(4), 10-4.
Over in the number three match,
Valeria Callejo took the first set from her opponent, 6-4, but dropped the next two sets as SLU secured the point. The Lions would pull straight sets wins in all other matches to secure all other remaining points.
After opening the season against a pair of D1 opponents, the Wildcats take on their first NAIA opponent of the 2026 season on Thursday as they head to Hattiesburg, Miss. for a date with William Carey. Opening serve Thursday against the Crusaders (0-0) is set for 10 a.m. at the WCU Tennis Complex.
