SHREVEPORT, La. – The Louisiana Christian University women's tennis program pulled off possibly the biggest upset in team history on Saturday afternoon, defeating the (RV) LSUS Pilots for the first time in 16 tries and in the process takes down a team listed among the nation's best as far back as our website's records go (2007-08) as Elizaveta Mikhailova provided the finishing blow in a 4-3 shocker.

• Mikhailova was the lone singles match to go three sets, but it was the worth every second, toppling LSUS' Lidia Gomez out of the fourth flight by a 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 final, sealing the dub for the Cats with a comeback effort that also saw her help earn the doubles point by partnering with Adjowa-Sika Geli on the third line over Maike Tiemersan / Sara Sofia Sanchez (6-4).

 

• Geli had the most dominant results on the court out of the sixth single slot, outscoring Daniela Maldonado by a combined 13-6 margin (6-1, 7-5).

 

• Alexandra Cedeno secured one of the three singles wins by dispatching Sara Sofia Sanchez on court five by the same count in each set (6-4, 6-4).

 

• The #2 duo of Raquel Coelho Rodrigues and Ana Sofia Ferrer Martinez ensured that each of the six student-athletes that entered the match contributed to the team's overall success, downing Gomez / Angela Bastro-Parra by a 6-4 tally.
