LONGVIEW, Texas – The Louisiana Christian University women's soccer team got two goals each from
Giselle Laing,
Emma Hicklin, and
Tanika Rother as the Wildcats dominated Texas College 10-0 Thursday afternoon at Lear Park.
LCU opened the scoring early in the first frame with
Rose Blampain finding the back of the net and the Wildcats were off to the races from there. Laing scored twice in the first 45 minutes while Rother and Hicklin each scored to give Louisiana Christian a 5-0 lead at the break.
The second half was much of the same with Rother opening the scoring in the back 45 while
Isabella Urbaneto and
Isabella Andrews each got their lone goals of the match. Hicklin scored her brace in the 83
rd minute.
Ana Guedes wrapped up the scoring by placing the ball in the goal in the 86
th minute for the 10-0 final.
Laing led the offense with six shots, five on goal with two finding the net while also tallying an assist.
Hicklin took three shots with both that were on target going into the net. She also tallied an assist.
Rother's two goals came on just two shot attempts while also assisting on two other goals in the match.
Guedes, Urbaneto, and Blampain all scored and assisted on one goal each.
The Wildcats (3-1, 2-1 RRAC) now head out to the desert southwest for a date with the University of the Southwest on Saturday. Kickoff against the Mustangs (0-9, 0-3 RRAC) is set for 2 p.m. CDT/1 p.m. MDT in Hobbs, N.M. at the Bob Moran Soccer Field.
