PINEVILLE, La. - The Lady Cats opened their 2011 home campaign with a 9-0 loss to West Alabama, an NCAA Division II school.

Despite the setback, Louisiana College showed marked improvement, particularly in the doubles competition where Taylor Henderson and Raquel Flaggert dropped an 8-1 decision to Natalia Cardenas and Courtney McDonald, Pearl Woodward and Daniele Lucas fell 8-2 to Dasha Popova and Emily Gerding and Alicia Ferguson and Jackie Martinez lost 8-1 to Angy Cuellar and Roanna Council.

The singles match results were as follows: Cardena defeated Henderson 6-1, 6-0; Katy Shoptaugh defeated Flaggert 6-0, 6-0; Popova defeated Woodward 6-0, 6-0; Gerding defeated Lucas 6-0, 6-0; McDonald defeated Martinez 6-0, 6-0 and Council defeated Ferguson 6-0, 6-1.
