Williams named ASC East Pitcher of the Week

PINEVILLE - Louisiana College junior right-hander Kelly Williams (West Monroe, LA / St. Thomas More HS) has been named American Southwest Conference East Division Pitcher of the Week for teh first time this season.

Williams allowed just one earned run over 11 innings of work and earned victories against nationally-ranked Mississippi College and East Texas Baptist, scattering nine hits and stiking out nine batters.

It was the third time that an LC pitcher received this award with Williams joining fellow junior Rene' Schwartzenburg, who has twice received the honor.

The ASC East Hitter of the week was Texas-Tyler senior infielder Megan Hutson (Dallas, TX / Clayton HS),  went 13-for-19 with three home runs, three doubles, a triple and 13 RBIs over a 6-0 stretch. Hutson, who had a slugging percentage of 1.421, also scored 13 runs and produced four multi-RBI games.

The West Division hitter of the week was Schreiner sophomore outfielder Rachele Herzog (Navarro, TX / NHS), who went 6-for-11 with a triple and six RBIs to help the Mountaineers take three of four games from ASC West Division opponent Texas Lutheran. Herzog also scored four runs and stole three bases.

The ASC West Pitcher of the Week was  Haylee Staton, a freshman from Concordia Texas

Staton recorded a pair of complete-game wins, including a shutout of ASC West Division opponent Howard Payne. Staton, who takes the division's top weekly pitching award for the third time this season, struck out 13 batters and scattered 10 hits over 14 innings of work.

HITTERS: Louisiana College 1B/DH Leslie Eastham went 4-for-9 with three homers and seven RBIs. . . . LeTourneau C Kylie Packard went 5-for-12 with two home runs in four games. . . .Mississippi College OF Morgan Harpole went 5-for-13 with a homer and a triple over six games. . . . East Texas Baptist 3B Meghan Fisher went 6-for-14 with four RBIs over four games. . . . Texas-Dallas 3B Courtney Kuebler hit two home runs and a double over six games. . . . Ozarks 3B Kelsey Mefford went 7-for-14 with a homer, triple, two doubles and six RBIs over six games. . . . Concordia Texas OF Lauren Vansickle went 8-for-14 with three doubles over a 4-0 week. . . . Mary Hardin-Baylor 3B Caitlin Bollier went 7-for-15 with a double over four games. . . . Hardin-Simmons OF Meagan Ulmer went 5-for-17 with a homer over four games. . . . Howard Payne 1B Ashley Silva went 4-for-8 with six walks over four games.

PITCHERS: Texas-Tyler RHP Stacy Shepherd went 3-0 with one save, striking out 18 batters over 19 2/3 innings of work. . . . Mississippi College RHP Kim Mason went 2-1 ad struck out 12 batters over 14 innings. . . . Mary Hardin-Baylor RHP Erica White earned a win and a save against Hardin-Simmons, striking out six over eight innings of work. . . . Schreiner RHP Allyson Morris went 2-0 and allowed only two earned runs against Texas Lutheran. . . . Hardin-Simmons RHP Megann Lewis went 1-0, allowing just four earned runs over 18 1/3 innings of work against UMHB.
