The 1958 Louisiana College football team was the first inductee into the LC/Wildcats Athletics Association Sports Hall of Fame in the new "Outstanding LC Sports Teams" category.
The 1958 squad, coach by J.W. "Pat" Patrick and assistant Tommy Davis, was one of the greatest teams of any sport in LC history, compiling an 8-2 record in the regular season and defeating Arkansas Tech 39-12 in the Rice Bowl on Dec. 5, 1958, in Stuttgart, Ark.
Other highlights from that season included victories over Northwestern State and Northeast Louisiana (now known as Louisiana-Monroe) as well as blowout wins over Mississippi College, Southern (Ark.) State and Livingston (Ala.) State.
