A hometown student-athlete from nearby Alexandria, Louisiana and Bolton High School, Gottlieb graduated from Louisiana College in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in athletic training before earning her master’s in exercise science at LSU in 2015.
She began her career as a freshman in 2009-10 by appearing in all 27 games for the Cats, averaging 4.2 points and 2.3 rebounds per game in addition to 24 assists, 19 steals, and 15 blocks with the ladies winning the ASC East division and the top seed in the bracket, and cut down the nets before falling to George Fox in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament (65-49).
Her sophomore campaign (2010-11) was went her meteoric rise to stardom began in earnest, earning 2nd Team All-ASC East and ASC East All-Defensive Team honors on top of being on the ASC Academic Honor Roll, upping her averages across the board to 10.9 points, 6.6 boards, 1.9 steals, 1.8 assists, and 1.7 blocks as LC went on to win its only postseason contest of the NCAA Division III era by beating Shannon (61-60) before falling to George Fox for the second straight season (63-47).
Junior year was when Gottlieb finally broke through as an All-Conference First Teamer, being named ASC East Defensive Player of the Year, a consensus All-ASC selection, First Team All-ASC East, ASC East All-Defensive Team and another stint on the ASC Academic Honor Roll, all while her scoring continued to improve. The five-foot-ten guard/forward put together nearly 15 points a night (14.4) with an all-around balanced stat line consisting of 5.1 rebounds, 2.7 steals, 2.1 assists and a block per contest. Louisiana College went onto capture its third consecutive ASC Eastern Division title, advancing to the NCAA Tournament where it lost a hard-fought battle with Thomas More (94-91).
Gottlieb capped off her prolific career with one of the greatest seasons in program history during the 2012-13 season, leading the Orange and Blue to its fourth consecutive division championship and NCAA Tournament appearance (lost to Rhodes, 59-58), the program’s last postseason squad as of this writing. Gottlieb put on a show each and every night for the Wildcats faithful, producing 18.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.5 steals, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 blocks on average with her steals statistic ranking 23rd in the nation. The awards continuously streamed in throughout her senior season as she was a WBCA First Team All-American, D3hoops.com Second Team All-American and South Region Player of the Year, won both the ASC East Defensive and Overall Players of the Year, an All-Louisiana First Team selection, was a unanimous All-ASC pick, plus a four-time ASC East Player of the Week. None of those accomplishments compared to her prowess in the classroom as she set a gold standard as a student, being rewarded with the ASC Scholar Athlete Medal of Honor, the ASC Women’s Basketball Distinguished Scholar Athlete, and ASC Academic Honor Roll for the third year in a row.
For her career, Gottlieb appeared in 114 games with 64 starts, racking up 1,380 points, 641 rebounds, 256 steals, 212 assists, 138 blocks, and 134 three-pointers made.
She is currently the Women’s Basketball Director of Sports Performance at the University of Cincinnati, which she has held since June 5, 2024.
