Joe C. Rivet

A three-sport letterman, Joe C. Rivet was an important part of Louisiana College athletics in the early 1950's.

Rivet ran the 100-yard dash, the 220-yard dash, and the 220-yard low hurdles for the track team. He also anchored the 440-yard relay and the 880-yard relay.

As a member of the Wildcat football team, Rivet played halfback and was the placekick holder for extra points and field goals. He also played shortstop and outfield for the baseball Wildcat teams.

A 1952 graduate of Louisiana College, Rivet continued his education at Louisiana State University, receiving his Master of Education degree in 1960.

He was a teacher in the Rapides Parish Schools from 1950-59 and was Assistant Principal at Pineville High School from 1959-62. He continued to serve the parish as Principal at Rapides High School and as Associate Superintendent. Later, Rivet worked with the Louisiana State Department of Education.

Rivet is a member of the Louisiana College Wildcat Athletic Association and has served as its vice president. Actively supportive of the WAA, Rivey participates in the Scramble Golf Tournament and has twice been a member of the winning team in the Championship Flight. He has served as a member of the Louisiana State High School Athletic Association's executive committee and currently serves as their field representative to the high schools in central Louisiana.

The Wildcat Athletic Association proudly inducted Joe C. Rivet into the Louisiana College Sports Hall of Fame on February 21, 1997.
