Jimmy Rea played an important ole on the 1958 Louisiana College Football team that compiled an 8-2 regular season record and went on to defeat Arkansas Tech in the 1958 Rice Bowl.
Rea, who also played defensive back, was best known as a punishing blocker out of the backfield on an offense that featured an outstanding running game. He was instrumental in 68-0, 52-0 and 39-0 romps over Mississippi College, Southern (Ark.) State and Livingston (Ala.) State in the 1958 regular season.
Rea graduated from LC in 1959 and has since become known for his generosity to his alma mater, contributing financially, among other ways, to the school he so dearly loves. Rea and his wife, Sandy, live in Madison, Miss.
