Janice Joseph's records speak for themselves. "Jay Jay" as she is known to her friends, may very well have been the finest all-around player in the history of Louisiana College basketball.

Louisiana College's first NAIA All-America, Joseph led the Lady Wildcats to GCAC and NAIA District Championships in 1985 and 1986 along with trips to the NAIA national tournament both years and a third place finish in 1986.

A two-time All-District front-line player from Peabody Magnet High School, Joseph switched to the guard position at LC. As a college athlete, she led the district in scoring and assists averaging 21 points and 6.8 assists respectively, and she was also a strong rebounder averaging 6.4 througout her career at LC.

Joseph was ranked third in the nation in scoring, averaging 25 points per game in her senior season. Wearing number 42, she played in 118 games throughout her career and still holds many school records including most points scored and most assists in an individual season. She also holds career records for most free throws attempted and made, most assists, and highest assist average.

The American Women's Sports Federation named Joseph first team All-America twice, and she was named player of the week and given honor roll citations on various occasions. She was named to the NAIA District 30 and all GCAC teams all four years of her college career.

Joseph was truly an "all-american of the all-americans." She added great excitement and tradition to Lady Wildcat basketball throughout her career, and she gained national recognition for Louisiana College. Complete in all phases of the game, Janice Joseph was a real class player.

Joseph entered the collegiate coaching ranks in the early 1990's at LC conference rival, Xavier of New Orleans.  While at Xavier, Joseph's team enjoyed unprecedented success.  Joseph then took the task of rebuilding the San Jose State women's basketball team.  In seven years at San Jose, Joseph turned a program that had never consistently won into a team that could contend for a Western Atheltic Conference championship every year.  This past  year, Joseph has decided to come home, taking over LC's women's basketball program.

The Wildcat Athletic Association proudly inducted Janice Joseph as a charter member of the Louisiana College Sports Hall of Fame on February 22, 1992.
