A baseball standout from 1975-1978, Gordy Glaser still holds LC pitching records set during his junior season with the Wildcats in 1978.
A 6'2" 185-pounder from Glen Oaks High School in Baton Rouge, Glaser was known for his impressively strong pitching arm and his versatility to play a number of positions if needed. A tireless athlete, Glaser was also a designated hitter while pitching. When he wasn't pitching, he was the starting left fielder.
In the 1978 season, Glaser posted an impressive 16-5 record and impressively pitched three doubleheaders. He won all six games.
Glaser also holds records for Most Innings Pitched in a season with 166.2, Most Wins in a season with 16, Most Wins in a Row by a pitcher with 14, and Most Strikeouts in a game with 12 against Louisiana Tech in 1978.
After his junior season in 1978, Glaser signed to play professional baseball with the Cleveland Indians. The highlight of his career with the Indians came in 1981 and 1982 when he made the 40 man roster for the major league club.
After leaving the Cleveland organization in 1985, Glaser decided to finish his college education. In 1987 he graduated from McNeese State University and began his career as a high school teacher and coach.
The Wildcat Athletic Association proudly inducted Gerald Gorden "Gordy" Glaser as a charter member of the Louisiana College Sports Hall of Fame on February 22, 1992.
