Former Louisiana College All-American, Janice Joseph-Richard, begins her third year as the head coach for her alma mater .  Joseph-Richard has a proven record as a winner that started in her playing days and has carried through her coaching stints.

In her first season as the Lady Wildcats' coach, Joseph-Richard led LC to a nine game improvement in the win column, marking one of the biggest improvements in the country.  She also led the Lady Wildcats to their first American Southwest Conference Tournament berth since 2005.  Also, under her guidance, Tillisha Givens was named the ASC East Freshman of the Year.  She also shared ASC East Coach of the Year honors, marking the sixth time in her career that she has been named her conference's coach of the year.

During the 2008-2009 season, Richard guided LC to 16 wins and a second straight ASC Tournament.  Also, Tillisha Givens was named the ASC East Player of the Year.

As a player at LC in the mid 1980's, Joseph-Richard, led LC to a number one national ranking and a final four appearance (1986).  Also, she was twice named a First Team All-American (1985 and 1986), was named team captain all four years, was a four time All-District performer, and was twice named the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Year.  She still holds school records for points in a season (822), most field goals in a season (315), and most free-throws made in a season (192). 

After her playing days at LC, Joseph-Richard played professionaly in both Europe and the United States.  In 1991 she was Europe's leading scorer, averaging 31 points per game.  That same year, she helped lead her team, Karlscruhe, Germany, to a European league title.

Joseph-Richard began coaching career in 1987 as an assistant coach at Southeastern Louisiana University under former LC head coach, Frank Schneider.

Joseph-Richard began her head coaching career in 1992 at then LC conference rival, Xavier of New Orleans.  In six seasons at Xavier, Joseph-Richard compiled an impressive record of 159-34, winning four  Gulf Coast Athletic Conference championships and qualifying for the NAIA National Tournament.  She was also named the GCAC Coach of the Year four times, and her teams at Xavier never lost more than eight games in a season.  On three seperate occasions, her Xavier teams win 28 games in a season.

Joseph-Richard then took on the task of rebuilding an NCAA Division I program that had never won, San Jose State.  In her seven seasons at San Jose, Joseph-Richard did what she had always done, win.  SJSU had a combined record of 8-46 during the two sesons previous to her arrival.  After a rebuilding effort the first season, she had a combined record of  90-84 in six seasons.  Joeph-Richard's efforts were noticed by her peers in the Western Athletic Conference as she was named the WAC Coach of the Year in 2002 after leading San Jose State to a 17-11 record.

Joseph-Richard resides in Alexandria with her son.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Office Management from Louisiana College.
