29 student athletes earn Fall Academic All-Conference honors

When the American Southwest Conference announced its 2011 Fall Acadamic All-Conference teams, 29 Louisiana College athletes representing the five Louisiana College fall sports were named.

One student, senior Stephanie Baer (Monroe, La.) was honored in both women's soccer and women's cross country.

Five members of the men's cross country earned the honor: Joseph Buzzetta (Alexandria, La.), Max Chou (Mandeville, La.), Josh Jee (Mandeville, La.), Derek Moncada (Ball, La) and Todd Whatley (Pineville, La.).

Four women's cross country runners were listed: Baer, Jessica Jacobe (Bossier City, La.), Hannah Lanier (Lake Charles, La.) and Rachael Quarles (Pineville, La.).

Fourteen football players earned Academic All-Conference: Terrance Bratten (Shreveport, La.), Taylor Cottano (New Roads, La.), Ben Feibel (Shreveport, La.), Hunter Feibel (Shreveport, La.), Daniel Hebert (Baton Rouge, La.), Tate Martin (Shreveport, La.), Hayden Melancon (Gonzales, La.), Josh Montgomery (Texarkana, Texas), Dayne Reeves (Longville, La.), Nick Remedies (Many, La.), Knight Roddy (Clinton, La.), Matias Sarvela (Helsinki, Finland), DJ Thomas (Sarepta, La.) and Justin Usey (Belle Chasse, La.).

On the men's soccer team Luke Brewer (Calhoun, La.) and Nic Philpot (Pineville, La.) were honored while on the women's soccer team Baer, Emily Breaux (Lafayette, La.), Martha Means (Pineville, La.), Iris Tuttle (West Monroe, La.) and Anna Wynne (Alexandria, La.) were named.

To be eligible for ASC All-Academic honors, student-athletes must be classified academically as a sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student during the competition season and have been in attendance and completed at least one academic year (two consecutive semesters) at their institution. They must also have a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) as certified at the conclusion of the academic semester in which the ASC sport championship is held.
