Linemen Crowder, Feibel to play in the D3 Senior Classic

PINEVILLE, La. – This Friday, a pair of Louisiana College senior offensive linemen will appear in the 2011 D3 Senior Classic All-Star Game in Salem, Va.

Center Ben Feibel (Shreveport, La./Northwood HS) and guard Hunter Crowder (Zachary, La./Zachary HS) join former LC wide receiver Jordan Rideaux, selected in 2009, as the only Wildcats to participate in this game.

The 2011 game will be broadcast live, nationally on Fox College Sports (Channel 131 on Suddenlink in Pineville) as well as webcast and archived at www.knoxivi.com/d3classic. Fox College Sports Network reaches over 85 million homes in the United States.

Feibel was a four-year starter for LC and started 39-of-40 possible games in his college career.

“This was a great honor for me,” Feibel said. “Granted, I would give it all back for the chance to still be playing with my Louisiana College teammates, we'd be in the national semifinals this week if we were still in it, but this is a great opportunity for me to play one more game. I'm going with one of my best friends, so it should be an enjoyable trip for us. We're going to try to represent Louisiana College to the best of our abilities and, most importantly, win.”

Crowder had spot duty as a freshman but was a mainstay on the line his sophomore through senior years.

“It's definitely an honor to be a part of this game,” Crowder said. “It's something I'm looking forward to. I've never been that far north in my life, so I'm looking forward to the chance to see that part of the country.”

Both Crowder and Feibel said that they viewed their selection to the D3 Senior Classic as a reward not just to them but to the LC football family as a whole and thanked their coaches and teammates for making the honor possible.

“Nothing we do at Louisiana College is geared toward individual honors,” Crowder said. “This is definitely a team thing. We couldn't have done it without our coaches and teammates.”

Two other Louisiana College seniors, Darnell Williams (Gulfport, Miss./Winter Park HS) and linebacker Taylor Cottano (New Roads, La./Catholic-Pointe Coupee) were selected to play in the contest but declined to attend.
The D3 Senior Classic brings players who represent 238 D-III football programs, to a North vs. South format all-star game the first week in December each year in Salem.
