Montagnino earns second straight ASC East Hitter of Week Award

PINEVILLE - Louisiana College senior outfielder Jodi Montagnino (Baton Rouge, La. / Christian Life) has been named American Southwest Conference Hitter of the Week for the second straight week.

Montagnino went 10-for-18 with two home runs, two doubles and 13 RBIs to pace a 6-0 week in ASC East Division play. Montagnino, who takes the division's top weekly award for the second straight week, also scored eight runs, walked three times and stole four bases. She now has nine homers on the season, which ties the school-record.

Mississippi College sophomore right-hander Kim Mason (Lawrence, GA / Collins Hill HS) was named ASC East Pitcher of the Week after she went 2-1 with one save and appeared in all four games during the Lady Choctaws' 3-1 week. Mason scattered 14 hits and struck out nine batters over 19 2/3 innings of work. Mason surrendered a combined five runs. Her only loss was to NCAA Division I Alcorn State in a 2-0 game in which she allowed just one run and four hits over five innings.

Thw ASC West Hitter of the Week was Howard Payne senior third baseman Rebecca McDaniel (Mineral Wells, TX / MWHS) who  went 7-for-12 with tree doubles a triple and three RBIs over an ASC West Division series split with Texas Lutheran. McDaniel also scored four runs, walked four times and did not strike out.

Concordia Texas freshman right-hander Haylee Staton (Austin, TX / Westwood HS) was named ASC West Pitcher of the Week after she dealt Hardin-Simmons its first two ASC West Division losses of the season by allowing just two earned runs over 14 innings with 17 strikeouts and only two walks. Staton, who takes the division's top weekly pitching award for the second time this season, scattered 16 hits over the two one-run games.

HITTERS: LeTourneau OF Crissy Simmons went 6-for-12 with two homers and 10 RBIs over four games. . . . Mississippi College C Reagan Jackson went 6-for-11 with a triple over a 3-1 stretch. . . . East Texas Baptist OF/1B Brooke Martin went 4-for-11 and had the go-ahead, RBI-single in a win over Texas-Tyler. . . . Texas-Dallas OF Adrienne Rathy went 3-for-7 over a doubleheader. . . . Texas-Tyler 1B/OF Whitney Wyly went 6-for-13 with one homer, one triple, two doubles and nine RBIs over four games. . . . Mary Hardin-Baylor SS Brittany Moreno went 8-for-15 with two double to pace a four-game sweep of Sul Ross State . . . . Concordia Texas SS Jessica Rattan went 6-for-13 with a homer and two doubles over four games. . . . Texas Lutheran SS Nicole Hatley went 7-for-13 with two doubles over four games.

PITCHERS: LeTourneau RHP Kelsey Mercer-Stephenson scattered 12 hits and struck out six over two starts, including beating East Texas Baptist with a two-hit shutout. . . . Louisiana College RHP Rene Schwartzenburg went 3-0 and struck out nine batters in 10 innings. . . .Texas-Tyler RHP Stacy Shepherd went 1-0 in a pair of starts, scattering 10 hits over 12 2/3 innings of work. . . . Ozarks RHP Kelsey Mefford tossed 3 2/3 hitless innings against LC. . . . Mary Hardin-Baylor RHO Kelsey Greeson allowed just one run over two wins against Sul Ross State . . . . Hardin-Simmons RHP Megan Lewis went 2-1 with 21 strikeouts over 15 2/3 innings. . . . Howard Payne RHP Kayle Castillo went 1-1 and allowed just three earned runs over 13 innings of work. . . . Texas Lutheran LHP Megan Carmichael went 1-1 with one save over four appearances.
