HORSESHOE BAY, Texas - Monday and Tuesday, Louisiana College junior golfer John Willie (Dry Prong, La./Grant High) made the most of his role as the sole Wildcat representative at the 2010 American Southwest Conference Golf Tournament.
Playing 54 holes in two days, Willie shot a 234 (76-78-80) to finish in a tie for 25th place among teh competitors in the men's field.
It was an individual contest which was won by Texas-Tyler's Brandon Ellis whose three-round 209 (68-68-73) was eight stroked better than the next closest competitor, Concordia Texas golfer Michael Goldwater, who finished second with a 217 (76-73-68).
The remainder of the top five consisted of Mississippi College's Elliot Bingham and Texas-Tyler's Joey Rippel, who finished tied for third at 222, and Texas-Tyler's Bobby Ennis and Brent Marshall, who finished tied for fifth with respective three-round totals of 224.
Texas-Tyler was easily tops in the team competition, winning its first ASC crown with a three-day 876.
Mary Hardin-Baylor (910) was second, Schreiner (914) third, Concordia Texas (923) fourth and Mississippi College (924) fifth.
