PINEVILLE - At 10 a.m.Tuesday, the Louisiana College women's basketball team officially embarked on its physical journey to the NCAA Tournament regional in Newberg, Ore.
Once could easily argue that the virtual journey began three years ago when Janice Joseph-Richard initially came home to coach her alma mater.
A throng of students, faculty and Louisiana College administration -- among them president Dr. Joe Aguillard, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Michael Travers, Vice President for Business Affairs Randall hargis, Vice President for Student Development Dr. Peggy Pack and Vice President for Institutional Advancement Timothy Lynn Johnson -- gathered outside H.O. West Fieldhouse to see the reigning American Southwest Conference Champs off.
The Lady Cats will bus from Pineville to New Orleans before flying out of Louis Armstrong International Airport to Denver and then to Oregon where, Friday at 9 p.m. central time, they will take on the defending national champs from George Fox.
