PINEVILLE - For the first time this season, the Lady Cats Softball team has had a player be named American Southwest Conference East Division hitter of the week.
Kelsey Brown (Rayne, La./Notre Dame-Crowley High) was named Co-Hitter of the East Division last week alongside Natalie Duran of Texas Dallas.
Brown went 6-for-8 with three home runs and six RBIs to pace a doubleheader sweep on the road of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Brown also walked once and scored six times.
Duran went 11-for-17 with a double and six walks to pace a 5-1 week. Duran also scored 13 runs and went 4-for-5 in the Comets' ASC record-breaking 41-1 win over Rust.
The ASC East pitcher of the week was Texas-Tyler junior right-hander Kimber Bossom, who tossed a complete-game, three-hitter with eight strikeouts to pick up the win in a 1-0 game against Concordia Texas . Bossom issued just two walks over the seven frames.
The West Division Hitter of the Week was Kelsey Cogdell of Hardin-Simmons and the WestPitcher of the Week was Megan Lewis of Hardin-Simmons.
