28 LC Student Athletes earn Fall Academic All-Conference Honors

RICHARDSON, Texas –– Numerous student-athletes from 15 universities and colleges have been recognized by the American Southwest Conference on its 2010 Fall All-Academic honor roll, among them 28 from Louisiana College.

The teams were announced by the ASC office on Tuesday (Nov. 23) and include the sports of cross country, football, soccer and volleyball.

In Women's Cross Country, three Lady Wildcats were honored: Stephanie Baer (Monroe, La./English), Ashley Dufrene (Covington, La./Christian Studies), Hannah Lanier (Lake Charles, La./Accounting) and Rachael Quarles (Pineville, La./Social Work).

In football, the Wildcats set a new team-high for Academic All-Conference performers with 17.

Those honored included: wide receiver Garrett Bean (Chalmette, La./Criminal Justice), offensive guard Hunter Crowder (Zachary, La./Math Education), center Ben Feibel (Shreveport, La./Biology), quarterback Ben McLaughlin (Dierks, Ark./Education), defensive end Grant Medine (Baton Rouge, La./Athletic Training), defensive lineman Cody Miguez (New Iberia, La./Pre-Engineering), defensive tackle Josh Montgomery (Texarkana, Texas/Accounting), offensive lineman Austin Payne (Many, La./Accounting), wide receiver Dayne Reeves (Longville, La./Math Education), defensive tackle Nick Remedies (Many, La./Athletic Training), linebacker Knight Roddy III (Clinton, La./Health and P.E.), linebacker Ory Roussel (Paulina, La./Business), defensive back Matias Sarvela (Helsinki, Finland/Athletic Training), wide receiver Justin Usey (Belle Chasse, La./Athletic Training), linebacker Caleb West (Pine Prairie, La./Biology), offensive guard Cody Wilson (Kentwood, La./Math Education) and defensive tackle Robert Wilson (Shreveport, La./Fitness and Wellness).

Three members of the LC Men's Soccer Team were honored: Luke Brewer (Calhoun, La./Nursing), Joseph Buzzetta (Alexandria, La./Communication Arts) and Nic Philpot (Pineville, La./Athletic Training).

On the Women's Soccer team, Baer, Emily Breaux (Lafayette, La./Athletic Training), Nicole Guise (West Monroe, La./Accounting), Martha Means (Pineville, La./Nursing) and Anna Wynne (Alexandria, La./Sociology and Psychology) were honored.

To be eligible for ASC All-Academic honors, student-athletes must have lettered in the fall 2010 season, be in at least the second academic year at their institution and carry a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.00 or better.
