Sixth Annual Dugout Club Banquet Approaches

PINEVILLE - Louisiana College Baseball Coach Mike Byrnes and his Wildcats are gearing up for their annual preseason banquet. On Jan. 11, at 6:30 p.m., the LC Baseball family will congregate at Pineville High School for the Sixth Annual Dugout Club banquet.
The banquet will feature Mike DeJean, a former Major League Baseball relief pitcher who spent 10 seasons in the bigs.
His career included stints with the Colorado Rockies (1997-2000), Milwaukee Brewers (2001-2003), St. Louis Cardinals,(2003), Baltimore Orioles (2004), New York Mets (2004-2005) and a second stint with the Rockies (2005-2006).
DeJean was born in Baton Rouge and resides in West Monroe.
His college career took him to Mississippi Delta Community College and Livingston University. He was selected in the 24th round of the 1992 amateur draft by the New York Yankees but was traded to the Colorado Rockies in 1996 and made his major league debut in 1997.
Cost to attend the banquest is $50 per adult. Each adult ticket holder will be allowed to bring one child guest for free.
The Dugout Club Banquest will serve as a precursor to the Second Annual Widcat Baseball Alumni Weekend dinner and Gold tournament, Jan. 15 and 16, which will include a meal a Stalnakers in Tioga.
Parents, family and former players are invited to attend all events.
