MARSHALL, Texas - The Louisiana College softball team rebounded from a loss earlier in the day to take a 2-1 win in an elimination game against La Verne Friday night at Taylor Field.  The win means that LC will now take on Linfield at 2 p.m. tomorrow in another elimination game.  Click on the links above to listen to the LC/Linfield audio broadcast or live stats.

Just as in yesterday's game between the Lady Wildcats and the Lepoards, La Verne (29-17) struck first by scoring a run in the bottom of the third when Kari Granger hit an RBI single that scored Diandra Burns.  LC (38-8) answered right back with a run in the top of the fourth and tied the game at one on a McCaslin Carson RBI single.

LC scored the eventual winning run in the top of the sixth.  Jodi Montagnino led the inning off with a single and scored when Caitlin Bankston's infield single caused a throwing error that allowed her to score all the way from first.

LC reliever Rene' Schwartzenburg made the lead stand up as she only allowed one runner over the last two innings.  Overall Schwartzenburg (14-0) allowed just one hit over four innings of relief work.  Delaney Baylor (16-8) was the tough luck loser, allowing the two runs on just five hits.

The win kept American Southwest Conference schools unbeaten against non-ASC schools.
