MARSHALL, Texas - Thursday afternoon, the Louisiana College softball team will begin their quest for a second straight berth in the NCAA Division III Softball World Series as they take on La Verne at 4 p.m. at Taylor Field on the campus of East Texas Baptist University.  All LC games will be broadcast by Chitwood Sports Media.  Click on the audio broadcast link above to listen to live action.

La Verne (28-15) is making their second straight trip to the NCAA West Regional.  Last year, the Leopards upset UT-Tyler in their first round game.  Offensively, they are led by Melissa Carlson, who is hitting .437 with 29 stolen bases.  Overall, La Verne is hitting .324 with 77 stolen bases.

"They will put pressure on you," LC head coach Tim Whitman said.  "They have some players that can move the ball around and once they get on base they can make things happen," added Whitman.

On the mound, La Verne is led by Delaney Baylor, who is 16-7 with a 2.19 ERA.  As a team, the Leopards sport a 2.92 ERA.

For the Lady Wildcats, this will be their fifth consecutive regional.  Last year, LC (36-7) swept through the West Regional in three games and finished third at the World Series.
