PINEVILLE, La. - Six Louisiana College softball players were named to the 2009 All-ASC East Teams. McCaslin Carson, Mary Alice Roy, Rene' Schwartzenburg, and Caitlin Bankston were all named All-ASC East First Team. Ashleigh Clement was named All-ASC East Second Team, and Allison Frye was named Honorable Mention All-ASC East.
Carson (Monroe, LA/Neville HS) and Schwartzenburg (Marksville, LA/MHS) were each named to the First Team as pitchers. Roy (Pride, LA/Hinds CC/Central Private HS) was the First Team shortstop, and Bankston (Winnfield, LA/WHS) was a First Team outfielder.
Carson, the lone senior on the team, is 14-3 with a 0.99 ERA. Batters only collected 64 hits in over 120 innings of work against the 2008 All-American. At the plate, Carson is currently hitting .372 with one home run and 25 RBI.
Schwartzenburg, a sophomore, is a perfect 13-0 with a 0.44 ERA. She struck out 145 batters in 95.2 innings pitched.
Roy, who is a junior, is currently the team's leading hitter. Roy is hitting .393 with 42 runs scored. She also has 16 stolen bases.
Bankston, a freshman, leads the team in steals with 24, home runs (5), and RBI (35). She is hitting .380.
Clement (Oak Grove, LA/OGHS), who moved to second base this season is hitting .346 with two home runs and 33 RBI.
Frye (Pineville, LA/PHS), who moved to centerfield, is hitting .270 with 20 runs scored.
LC begins play in the NCAA West Regional (held in Marshall, Texas at ETBU) Thursday at 4 p.m. against La Verne.
