IRVING, Texas - Thursday evening, McCaslin Carson tossed a one-hitter, while the LC offense scratched across four runs to take a 4-1 win over Schreiner in the opening round of the American Southwest Conference Championship Softball Tournament. Eleventh ranked LC will now face ASC West champion, Hardin-Simmons Friday at 11 a.m. Check back with this website for links to live stats and live audio of the game.
LC (33-6) opened the scoring with a singe run in the bottom of the first inning. Caitlin Bankston led the inning off with a walk, stole second, moved to third on a Mary Alice Roy groundout, and scored on an Ashleigh Clement single.
Scrheiner (26-14) evened the score at one in the top of the fourth inning when Lyndsie Travis hit a solo home run. The homer was the only hit that Carson allowed the entire game. Carson (13-2) threw a complete game, striking out seven and walking four.
LC broke the game open in the bottom of the fifth inning with three runs. The first run scored when McCaslin Carson had an infield RBI single that scored Roy. After Tayler Trojcak popped up to second and a wild pitch put Carson at second and Clement at third with two outs, Aimee Dubroc delivered a two RBI single. Carson then closed the game, allowing only a runner on a catcher's interfernce call over the last two innings.
