Greg Uzee Threw a Complete Game Against LeTourneau

Wildcats and Yellow Jackets Split Doubleheader

LONGVIEW, Texas - Sunday afternoon against the LeTourneau Yellow Jackets, the LC baseball team picked up a 9-1 win on the front end of a doubleheader, but squandered a 5-0 lead in the second game, losing 7-6.  The two teams will conclude their series, and season, Monday with a single game beginning at 3 p.m.

In game one, LC starting pitcher Greg Uzee (4-4) pitched a gem, allowing only one run on three hits while striking out seven.  Uzee went the distance in the seven inning game.  Offensively, the Wildcats got two-run home runs from David Roux and Hunter White.  Roux's was his eleventh homer of the season.  LC (18-21, 5-12) put the game away with five runs in the top of the seventh inning.  Tyler Bray also had a big game at the plate, going three-for-four with two RBI.

In game two, LC broke open a scoreless game with three runs inthe top of the fifth and two more in the top of the sixth to take a 5-0 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth.  In the bottom of the sixth, LeTourneau (12-21, 4-13) began their comeback.  The Yellow Jackets scored three runs in the sixth and seventh innings to take a 6-5 lead.  LC came back and tied it in the top of the eighth with another run, but LU collected a walk-off single with one out in the bottom of the ninth.  The Yellow Jackets took advantage of poor LC control as five Wildcat pitchers combined to walk nine and hit two batters and throw six wild pitches.  Offensively, Bray led the way again, collecting three more hits.  Cole Bishop also contributed with his first home run of the season.
