LONGVIEW, Texas - The LC baseball team finished their season with another late inning loss as they fell to LeTourneau, 14-13. The Wildcats had a 12-5 lead in the bottom of the seventh, but LeTourneau plated nine runs over their final three innings. The end of the season means LC did not qualify for the ASC Tournament for the first time in five years, which had been the third longest active postseason streak in the 15 team ASC.
LU (13-21, 5-13) jumped to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, but LC (18-22, 5-13) responded with three runs, on two RBI singles and a sacrifice fly, in the top of the second inning.
After a LeTourneau run in the bottom of the second inning put them back on top, 4-3, LC exploded for nine combined runs between the third and sixth inning. In that span, the Wildcats got home runs from David Roux and Tyler Bray. On the day, Roux finished with five RBI and Bray was 3-for-5 with three RBI and three runs scored. Roux finishes the season with 12 home runs and 54 RBI, which is the most in both categories for any Wildcat in the NCAA Division III era (since 2000).
With things seemingly in hand LeTourneau erupted for nine runs on 11 hits over the final three innings to claim the win. The winning hit came when Nick Mihalco singled Charles Johnson home with two outs.
