RICHARDSON, Texas –– 408 student-athletes from 15 universities and colleges have been recognized by the American Southwest Conference on its 2008 Fall All-Academic honor roll. The teams were announced by the ASC office on Monday (Nov. 30) and include the sports of cross country, football, soccer and volleyball.
To be eligible for ASC All-Academic honors, student-athletes must have lettered in the fall 2009 season, be in at least the second academic year at their institution and carry a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.00 or better.
A total of 25 Louisiana College athletes were honored on the fall Academic All-Conference teams, 16 in football, three apiece in men's and women's soccer and one apiece in men's and women's cross country.
Stephanie Baer, a sophomore English major from Monroe with a 4.0 cumulative GPA, was honored on both the women's soccer and cross country teams.
In football, the honorees from LC were: quarterback Jamie Bunting (Athletic Training, Alexandria), offensive lineman Hunter Crowder (Math Education, Zachary), center Ben Feibel (Biology, Shreveport), wide receiver Brady Glaser (History, Dry Creek), tailback Lee Jones (Biology, Moss Bluff), quarterback Ben McLaughlin (Math/Health and Physical Education, Dierks, Ark.), defensive back Jason McMillan (Health & Physical Education, Church Point), defensive lineman Josh Montgomery (Accounting, Texarkanna, Texas), offensive lineman David Morris (Economics/Finance, Baton Rouge), wide receiver Zach Morris (Communications, Baton Rouge), wide receiver Brandon Paige (Pre-Physical Therapy, Pilot Point, Texas), wide receiver
Dayne Reeves (Math Education, Longville, La.), linebacker Ory Roussel (Business, Paulina), wide receiver Justin Usey (Athletic Training, Belle Chasse), linebacker Caleb West (Biology, Pine Prairie) and offensive lineman Cody Wilson (Math Education, Kentwood).
In women's soccer, the honorees were: Baer along with Courtney Hamilton (Pre-Law, Alexandria), Sarah Whittington ( Athletic Training, Pineville), Anna Wynne (Psychology/Sociology, Alexandria) and Jennifer Zundel (Psychology, Baton Rouge).
In men's soccer, the honorees were: Felipe Escobedo (Biology, Houston), Edgar Narvaez (Management and Marketing, Alexandria) and Nic Philpot (Athletic Training, Pineville).
Brian Verrett, a senior Biblical Studies major from Denham Springs, was honored in men's cross country.
