PINEVILLE, La. - At 10 a.m. this morning, the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Louisiana College football/soccer stadium took place.  The ceremony was attended by over 100 people.  "This marks a great step for Louisiana College Athletics," said LC athletic director Tim Whitman.  Construction will begin immediately on phase one of the three phase plan.

PINEVILLE, La. - Louisiana College head softball coach Tim Whitman and his staff have been  named the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Atlantic Region Coaching Staff of the Year.  Whitman's staff includes assistants Rawlen Scully, Aleshia Perry-Davis, Leanne Shanks, and Emillie Collins.  Whitman and his staff led LC to a 44-7 record, a third-place finish at the NCAA III World Series, an American Southwest Conference East Division and overall ASC Championship. 

PINEVILLE, La. - Louisiana College All-American Softball Player, McCaslin Carson (Monroe, LA/Neville HS), finished third in the Ameircan Southwest Conference Female Athlete of the Year voting.  Carson, who was the American Southwest Conference East Division Pitcher of the Year, was trying to become the second LC softball player to garner the ASC Female Athlete of the Year award.  Sandi Clark earned the honor in 2006.  Howard Payne's Meia Daniels, the NCAA III Women's Basketball Player of the Year, was named this year's ASC Female Athlete of the Year.
